I recently shot photos for my friend Daniel and his wife Anna at a ceremony blessing their marriage and the reception that followed at their house. I really enjoyed the small, intimate atmosphere, and it was a gorgeous event for photos. I met my client Bonnie when she was looking for a photographer to document a women’s empowerment dance project she is spearheading. Two weeks ago, I shot photographs for the Austin chapter of Pratham at their annual fundraising gala. Pratham is a non-profit which supports the cause of child illiteracy in India. The gala took place at the UT Alumni Center, and it was put on beautifully by both the staff of the Alumni Center and the many dedicated Pratham volunteers. Not only was it a chance to see fantastic films featuring nonprofit organizations working to do good, it was also an opportunity to meet filmmakers, volunteers and nonprofit leaders willing to donate their time to get eyes on those organizations. We work with a lot of nonprofits, so we know how important video can be to drawing attention to their causes. Most people would rather watch a short film and...
